FAQ’s

  • Q: Will you pressure or force me to throw away any of my belongings?

  • A: No.  I will certainly ask questions and provide input along the way, but the decisions about what to keep, donate, sell or discard are completely yours.
  • Q:How long does the entire de-cluterring and organizing process take?
  • A: The time it takes to organize a space is dependent on multiple variables, such as the type/size of the space, the condition of the space, the pace at which you can make decisions.
  • Q: But I don’t want you to see my mess.
  • A: When I start with my clients, many are simply embarrassed to have me see their mess, but they swallow their pride and realize that I am the key to helping them get the organized life that they have been dreaming of.  What clients need to realize is that I am not there to judge, I am there to help. It is important that you do not clean or organize the area prior to my initial on-site assessment visit, so that I can obtain a realistic picture of what isn’t working versus what is working and can determine an appropriate organizing solution that will work well for you.
  • Q: How much is this going to cost?

  • A: My rates vary on the type of job for which you hire me. I book in three – four hour blocks of time.
  • Q: What type of payments do you take?

  • A: I accept cash, check or credit card at the end of each session.
  • Q: What if I cancel?
  • A: If you cancel with less than a 48 hour notice, you will be charged half of the fee for that day’s session. Once you cancel, for any subsequent session you book, you will need to pay in full before I hold your date. Remember this only applies if you give me less than 48 hours notice and it does not apply to every situation.
  • Q: Do you require a deposit?
  • A: I will require a deposit only if you have cancelled a past session.
  • Q: What can a Professional Organizer do for me that I cannot do on my own?

  • A: I do not doubt your capabilities at all.  Sometimes people can just get so overwhelmed by their situation that they find it challenging to get started or complete a project on their own.  A Professional Organizer can utilize their knowledge, training, and experience to provide the fresh prospective, motivation and assistance necessary to get the job done.
  • Q: Do I need to be present during the organizing process?

  • A: It is preferred.  This process is not just about organizing your space, but is also about teaching you how to organize a space that works best with your schedule, habits, and daily routine, so that you can maintain that organized space easily going forward.
  • Q: What organizing products do I need to purchase before the first appointment?

  • A: This will be discussed during the On-site Consultation & Needs Assessment. We will then assess what types of containers and other organizing products you may already own that can be used and determine if any other organizing solutions need to be purchased.
  • Q: Will you post photos of my space on your website, Pinterest, Facebook page?
A: Photos of your space will only be posted with your approval and will not have your name attached to them.  If you prefer that photos of your space do not appear on my website, Pinterest, or Facebook page, I will honor your wishes, no questions asked.  I recommend that we do still take before/after photos, even if only to show you the progress that was made over the course of the project.

  • Q: If I decide to hire you, what are some things that I should keep in mind?

  • A:Here are a few tips to help you: Distraction free zone – If possible, make sure all distractions are gone….kids and hubby out of the house, phone and computer turned off.  Biggest problem area:  Pick the area of your home that bothers you the most and we will start there.

REMINDER: Do not attempt to organize or clean the area that you want help with.  I need to see your habits to know how the clutter got there and where it tends to go in the area.  We will take before and after pictures with your permission.  What the photo does for you, is remind you of how hard we worked to get the project done… plus we may even have some fun along the way.
